Hey everyone,

I've completed all the required classes for the pre-dental curriculum. Next semester will be my last semester of undergrad and I only need 2 bios (to complete my major) and am looking for 2 electives that would look good on a dental school application. One of my advisors told me ceramics, so that leaves me open to one more class. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks 🙂

Don't worry about taking a class that would "look good" for dental schools if it's your last semester of undergrad. This is your last semester of "general studies" before you go to professional school, where you're going to get a lot of basic science and a lot of dentistry, with few electives. Take something that you don't know much about and that is not related to your major or dental school whatsoever. There is more to life than just dentistry!

Unless you're really interested in ceramics for ceramics, or you think you'll have some late post-December interviews where you could talk about it/somehow include it in AADSAS, I would almost advise not taking it.

Look through your course catalog.

There's probably philosophy, psychology, art, literature, language, theatre, classics, music, math, computer science, astronomy, economics, management, geology, history, political science, and probably much more.

Take something that will give you a different perspective on knowledge or culture or how the world works, because you're about to go to four (or more) years of a pretty specific discipline.

At the point you're at I think it's more of what will help you in dental school, rather than what would look good.

during my interviews they mentioned that they loved that I had taken a few philosophy courses, maybe look into that! I think it had something to do with the ethics of it maybe... idk but they liked it!

I disagree with the "take it easy" mentality. I think you should take classes that will prepare you for dental school, that way you won't have to study for them as much and spend more time studying for the classes you didn't take. Histology, anatomy, biochemistry, and microbiology will help you the most. Developmental biology, immunology, inorganic chemistry, and physiology will also help.
Obviously it's up to you, but I spend my histology lecture on reddit and playing computer chess, thanks to undergrad histo.

I wish my school offered histology!
