I am currently a high school senior and recently got accepted to some pre-dental programs. However, I am having a difficult time choosing and would like to receive some advice from others. As stated in the title, I have narrowed the options down to UOP 3+3 Dental Advantage Prgram (6 years) and NYU CAS BA/DDS Program (7 years). The expenses will be approximately the same, since I have received scholarships from both schools. I greatly appreciate any insight or advice 🙂

I think I would go with UOP because of the saved year as well as the opportunity to live in San Fran. I also really liked UOP's dental school, their curriculum and facilities were top notch. But the D1s there did seem quite stressed, maybe it was just me.

Can you get into the UoP 2+3 program? Because that would seal the deal. You'd be a doctor shortly after you would be able to legally buy a beer.
Hahahahaha I wish! But I wasn't offered the option 🙁

UOP will be best option because of price. Not only is it a 3 year, Stockton is pretty cheap to live vs 8 years in NYC. Look up how much it is to rent a studio/1br in NYC.

7 years in NYC. Stockton is an awful place. You will spend 50% of your time there. The undergrad experience at NYU will be better. It's not all about getting into dental school. There has to be some other benefit. College is supposed to be some fun.

I would sacrifice 3 years in stockton for 3 years in SF 😛

It would really make you appreciate SF once you start school there. Moreover, you'll save some money living in Stockton vs NY.

Hmmm I have looked up the estimated cost of attendance, including the living expenses, for each school. And, surprisingly, 6 years of UoP and 7 years of NYU are pretty much similar (taking undergrad scholarship into account and assuming that there would be no dental school scholarship), so I don't think money would be an issue in this case...

Even if the costs are the same, don't forget you're graduating 1 year early at UoP so that's a year extra of income.

dang.... sf is way more than I last remembered. Good work figuring those numbers out

Do a 4/4 route IMO. What’s the rush? You only get to be a college student once and should enjoy yourself. Plus- who wants to be chained to a desk trying to finish 120+ credit hours in 3 years?

Quite a sacrifice. Some of the best years of your life. Although I love visiting California, NYC is truly the city that never sleeps, continually reinvents itself, and can not be fully appreciated in 8 years. A lot more diverse as well, if that matters to the OP
