Pre-interview dinner

hard to say what "informal" is. although i generally hate getting dressed up, i think it's better to be overdressed. i just plan on wearing a dress shirt, slacks, shoes. maybe a sweater if i can find one. i would go for your wallet when the check comes, as a courtesy, however i've heard usually the programs pay.

is anyone else going to be forced to missed some of these? i hope im not screwing myself by not going. my schedule, and money is tight, and if i were to go to all of these i would have to make a couple flights to the same city/area etc, which is really difficult for me....

Business casual is the approriate dress for most of these dinners. Programs should be picking up the tab for these dinners. Interview dinners are an excellent opportunity to learn the inner workings of the residency program in a more relaxed environment. I gained more information about the program and whether I was interested from these dinners than from the interviews themselves.

Thank you for this. So what is the most appropriate way to approach the situation? Should I just sit back and not offer to pay at all? Is that acceptable behavior? scm, I am with you on this budget thing.

hmm.. my prevailing feeling is that if they invite you for dinner.. u shouldn't offer to pay.. but hey.. if you feel like paying for the invitation.. i'd like to invite you over for dinner 😀
