Some of this year's candidates have said that not many programs are hosting pre-interview dinners anymore. For those that are or plan on attending, what would you like the dinner to be like? I try to emphasize that it's a casual experience and that candidates can ask about anything...program, location, our experiences, etc. Thanks.

I liked what UPenn did for their pre-interview night. We went to a bowing alley run by people with disabilities (http://www.pepbowl.com/). It was a nice tie in with rehab, but it was also a more relaxed way to meet and greet. It was way easier to talk to each other than a noise happy hour at a bar and not as stuffy as a sit down dinner. It might come off as less cool to some applicants but it served the function better, in my humble opinion.
