I was wondering whether the prematch was still around for the upcoming match....

I believe that it was supposed to be gone but will actually be around for another year.

What is the prematch? I've never heard of this.

There's no such thing as the "prematch" per se - it's just that certain types of applicants are permitted to sign contracts prior to the match although they are participating in the match. If they sign a contract they must withdraw from the match.
