pre-matching???

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
They said they send it off to GME and never see it again. I trust it is best to try to get a copy from the GME with the final signature before I withdraw from the match?
God, yes. And the PD's office should strong-arm GME to get you a copy of the contract ASAP. You're not making an unusual request asking for a copy of a contract someone co-signs with you.

I have recently accepted a prematch, recieved and signed the contract, but it was blank with a spot for a signature from the PD aswell as the GME. I cancelled my remaining interviews (not very interested) but have no withdrawn from the match. They were pretty serious and over nighted the contract to me. I signed it and sent it back, and asked for a copy of it when the PD signs it. They said they send it off to GME and never see it again. I trust it is best to try to get a copy from the GME with the final signature before I withdraw from the match?

I know this seems like common sense, but it is a big decision.

Yeah, but be careful, youre technically supposed to withdraw right away... but whos gonna know....

This is interesting to see alive >1 yr after I posted it.

I am happy as a clam at my program. In the end I did not pre-match, I went the standard match because I held out for the program I wanted; who wanted to put me in the general match. They said that I would match if I ranked them. So I went with it. Like whopper, I am glad I didn't take the pre-match offer I got.

The best piece of advice I received overall was to rotate at the program you want to match at if at all possible. You will know if you like it and they will get to see how you are.

A one day meet and greet on the interview trail is like watching a preview to a movie you have some insight into what is going on but you don't have the big picture. I have talked to residents who matched at other places I interviewed at and their experiences do differ alot from the first impression we had on the interview.

This past year has been the best year I have had since my senior year of highschool ha ha. I work hard, but I love what I do and I feel it shows.

Hope everyone is enjoying the new residency year.

Glad things worked out so well, countryboy. It's always nice when someone takes a reach for the brass ring and comes back with it. Delighted you seem to have found your niche so well...
