So maybe I just need to be patient and wait for more info from the school I will be attending, but I'm curious what purchases I will need to make before matriculation this Fall/Summer. I know I will need to buy a new laptop since mine is just about dead, but are there any other purchases I should be anticipating and budgeting for? Stethoscope? New "professional" clothes (almost all of mine are jeans & t-shirts)? Something else?

Most schools should include stethoscope and other required medical instruments as part of your fees. Don't buy anything like that till you find out for sure since you'll be paying the fee either way, and the school will get you excellent prices.
All the equipment they gave us was like $2,500.00 if we bought it ourselves, but the school was able to procure it and only had to charge us like $800.00

iPad or wait for Lenovo Yoga.
You'll most likely need professional clothes, but the amount probably depends on the school. Some schools require you to dress business casual/professional under your white coat for interacting with standardized patients.
I second the iPad. I got one as an early graduation present and it's going to be useful for ebooks and taking notes.

Yeah a pair of khakis wouldn't hurt.

I agree with professional clothes. Besides the standardized patient encounters where we are required to wear professional clothes underneath white coats (usually once a week), our school also has simulations, ultrasound sessions, patients that come speak at our classes, etc from time to time. I also volunteer at a clinic occasionally or shadow in the hospital as well. No need to buy a whole new wardrobe, just make sure you at least have a few professional outfits.
Everything else will be dependent on your school. We had to buy our own stethoscopes. Definitely wait to buy textbooks. You'll find out from 2nd years what books you really need and they will probably be selling them for way cheaper.

Who wears khakis??
I say buy new underwear. 😀
