hi im a pre med undergrad freshman at UGA majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology. I have a 3.51 gpa and im expecting that to rise to 3.59-3.6 by the end of this semester. Im wondering if I stay in 3.6-3.7 range what are my chances of getting into medical college of georgia (or GHSU). say i made a 30 on the mcat, 10 on each section.

thank you for all feedback

p.s. if admins think this is not the right place for this thread feel free to move it

You'd be in good shape with a 3.6 and a 30 for at least one in-state school. Maybe Emory might be a stretch, but apply to a wide variety of schools and see what happens.

Yeah, you should probably repost in the 'what are my chances?' forum.

Would a mod move this to allopathic please.

The OP is asking specifically about MCG (MD) not DO. FYI, PCOM-GA is closer to UGA than MCG.

Also, to clarify the Medical College of Georgia still exists. The overall campus which includes nursing, dental, allied health & medicine are now called Georgia Health Science University; the medical school itself is keeping the MCG name.

MCG has a campus in Athens (UGA) now as well. So you could say UGA is closer to MCG than PCOM-GA.

But, OP, I think you have a decent shot if you have good volunteering and shadowing experiences, good letters of recommendation, and want to practice in GA.
