Pre-med life...as a CAT!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Cool pics

I grew up liking only dogs(rotties/pits)... but now I realize cats are cooler... I want a lynx or a bobcat... are those legal? hehe

Hahaha. Yeah wild cats would be so cool. Kind of like those "dogs" that are half-wolf. There is something rather Panther-ish about my cat. He has the big-cat strut when he walks. We call him "Pantera" sometimes. 😀

Yeah we think our cat has jaguar moments.

I really want to get a savannah cat one day, but I'm not willing to spend $2k to get one.

I really want a Scottish Fold, the ones with the folded down ears. They sit upright like little Buddhas too, so cute. But they are like $800 for a kitten... so probably not. I don't think they let you take out extra loans for kittens.

"Jaguar moments" for sure. Like sometimes they lay on the end of a couch or something with their legs dangling down and it looks like how Jaguars sleep up in the trees.

Cats are cool. I had never heard of the Savannah ones before but they are pretty neat.

I'm not sure if I could ever justify spending more than ~$100 for a cat though. There are so many little cuties at the spca that need homes anyway....

Agreed! I have no idea how the feral agencies catch them or support them.

It's funny...my grandfather is like the cat-master in his neighborhood. He feeds them and there are always like 5 feral cats in his backyard. He has names for them all 😛 For the last couple years he's been trapping them and bringing them into the spca to be neutered. My dad jokes that he's the Dr. Mengele of cats

aww, great Scottish Fold pic!

yeah, I will definitely be going to the shelter to get my cat, my whole life we've gotten shelter cats, and they've all been great. some more than others though, I really wish I could clone my cat at my parents place!

am i the only pre-med that is deathly allergic to cats?

dogs ftw.

You can treat this allergy with acupuncture. For realsies.

Dogs are cool too though. I really want a boxer. I really love these dogs for some reason:

I'm seriously considering cloning my big-boy after he passes away. I don't think it would be that creepy, plus I'm really curious to see if his personality traits would remain the same...

There are a few companies that do this now for a large price. In ten years or so it won't be that bad, I presume.

I have always been a dog person (still like cats though). I am thinking of becoming the crazy dog guy when I'm a 40 yr old doctor (as opposed to crazy cat lady aka Phoebe). How many dogs do you think I need to earn that classification?

I'd say in general 4 dogs or more earns you a crazy dog person title. There are exceptions...like people who own farms and stuff, and dog-sled racers 😉

dogs ftw.
I was (am) allergic to cats and didn't like them until I met a few ferals around my undergrad apartment and then we took in a rescued feral kitten. I'm not allergic unless I don't see her for 6 months or longer.

i did try that, but it was years ago. and it didn't work. my allergy is, like, seriously bad. hives/skin rash and itchy throat bad. plus the usual watery eyes and runny nose.

yeah, i've been around cats a lot in the attempt to adjust, but it hasn't gone well so far. i actually don't like cats at all, so i'm not too broken up about it.
