Hi!
I finally registered after viewing this amazing site for months!! I would like to say hi and thankyou to every member on this site, for all your thoughts and advices.
My name is Luan and my family understands the importance of education, proud to say that I am the very first member in many generations to have the chance to go to school and make it this far. As for my education, I was always present in high level courses such as AL,Honors,AP etc and done really well......up until college =(. My grades dropped horribly in college and now I am working on getting my credentials up and running. I am currently working on my BS in Biology and Integrated Science. (Currently I am at a uGPA of 2.7 and I think same with sGPA, had mostly A and Bs, few Cs, two Fs, and some withdrawals and retook some classes) Also-I have 3 semesters left before graduating. I want to become a physician, and yes I know that my journey ahead is going to be tough, but I am willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. Any advices for me guys? **Its ok if you criticize and be harsh, Im ready.....lol

If you re-take and get higher grades, only the higher ones will count for DO programs. You MD career is over, unless you excel in an SMP/post-bac program. Oh, and score well on MCAT

I just finish some calculations, I will be sitting on a cGPA of 2.9 and same for science by end of fall this year. Im starting on studying for MCAT now.

First off, very nice on getting this far! I'm a first gen too! (yay)

Have you figured out why you got those grades? Have you fixed up your study habits? Make sure those grades don't happen again.

As of now, I would look into DO. Those F's...I would retake. Same goes for any grade below a C-. You'll be amazed at how much your GPA will improve via DO grade replacement.

Best of luck!

Thanks for your reply. I definitely am starting to study better and fix my weaknesses. DO school is what I am looking into now. Ive heard that they allow for replacement grading, although they do look at all attempts. Im also a little worried about my prerequisites, they look like b and c's...should i retake?

If you're set on DO, retaking C's wouldn't be a bad idea. Retaking B's aren't worth your time. It's better to take new classes and own in them.

Thanks so much. Im definitely going to show em what Im made of. I have one question. Has anyone, struggle in college, started doing better in their later years, without postbacc and masters, got accepted with maybe DO uGPA of 3.00 both science and cumulative? I tried searching but most just have postbacc and graduate work.
