Sounds like a good idea for any professional, both male and female
It completely depends on the circumstances. If you're a young grad just coming out of school and decide to get married, there's likely not much point. States have different laws, but in a lot of divorce cases the couple will split assets accumulated during the marriage regardless of who earned the money. Obviously the circumstances change if you're talking about someone (or both parties) bringing significant assets and/or income into a marriage.
