Do pharmacy schools accept some pre-pharmacy courses (math/science) that were taken online from an accredited college/university? I know that it is allowed, as transcripts don't show the difference between an on-campus and an online course. However, some schools (like USC) don't accept them. Is there any other schools and where can I find this information?

If anyone has taken some of their pre-pharm courses online, what was your experience? How did you do the labs part of the class?

Your best bet is the call the schools you are interested in. That way you know you are getting accurate information.

It would be best to take science courses in the regular classroom, especially those that involve labs. I asked a couple of schools their opinion on this and was told that they want their students to have HANDS ON lab experience, so distance education classes in science are not acceptable. Hands on labs are interesting too-no comparison to online ones. As for math, personally, I would prefer to have a teacher that I could talk too and ask questions. Statistics and calculus were challenging subjects for me, I needed a lot of help and got it from my teachers. By all means, contact the schools that you consider. But do not take classes that might not be acceptable and waste your money. I did distance biology only to find out it is good for nothing. I had to retake it in the classroom later.

I don't have any online courses on my transcript yet, though I'm enrolled in an online Cultural Anthropology class. Are the schools able to tell the class was taken online? If so, definitely call and ask. If not, I doubt they would ask anyway. If they do, you could probably talk your way through how/why online was necessary and the advantages of them to try to ease their concerns re: online courses.

How hard is it to get into Pharm school? What's the eisiest pharm school to get into?

I apologize if this sounds sarcastic, but I'd say given the number of threads, posts, views, replies, etc. on this forum that it's moderately difficult. Otherwise, why all the trouble?

As far as the easiest to get into, it depends. If you've got 4.0 great LORs, 99 PCAT, they all are. If you've got 2.3 don't know anyone and a 15 PCAT, then one doesn't exist. For the rest of us average joes, the easiest are the ones with the fewest applicants and the lowest average GPA/PCAT requirements.

When you fill in your PharmCAS application, you have to check a special box if the course was distance education.
