Hi! I need some advice and help in going in the right direction with applying to pharmacy school

May 2014 i would have graduated with a B.S. Degree. I still have the remaining 4 prerequisites to take after graduation: economics, public speaking, microbio with lab, anatomy and lab.
I plan to apply for 2015 school year and take my pact in July 2014.

1) Is it true that if it has been more than 8 years from when you took your prerequisites, you must repeat them? I have had personal issues where it would be 7 years (since freshman chemistry/biology) if i were to get into the 2015 school year.

2) What are the general early deadlines for 2015? Is it in summer of 2014.

3) can i still apply without having complete my prerequisites? If I get into 2015 school year i still have two semesters of school in which i can complete my prerequisites.

5) When is the best time to ask for letter of recommendation?

6) for how long one should shadow a pharmacist? does the duration matter?

7) I know for more information i can go on pharmcas. Every time i go on pharmcas website it takes me to aacp and it says to become member i need to pay $150.00 annually. From friends i heard, to become member of aacp there is no fee until you submit applications. so don't know how to do this.

My stats are not that good so plan to apply early:

cum gpa: 3.26 (this is not pharmcas calculated so will probably be lower🙁 ) my prereq gap is probably lower, 1 year research, 7 months as pharmacy tech, have not taken pcat yet.
i plan to shadow a pharmacist.
For LOR I plan to ask my PI, a pharmacist, and my major advisor (who is also my professor). I have a semester with all "W" and is because of a serious health problem which i can explain if they ask.

Do you known which schools have low gpa requirements?

I know this was a lot but i appreciate any help. I have a family and child that depends on me so do not want to make a mistake in the process and lose out on more time.

Thank You!

Thank You!

Let's see here....

1. Every school is different. I would call or e-mail the school and see what they will accept. No one here can answer for all schools.

2. You mean what are the deadlines to start in fall 2015? I would say generally winter of 2014. Some schools have rolling admissions that go into february, but they have most of their students selected by then and competition would be even harder. You don't have to have all your pre-reqs done to apply, so apply early! I recommend submitting your pharmcas by the end of August 2014.

3. Answered above

4. you skipped it 😛

5. If you want to submit your application by the end of August, asking in July. Give your writers at least 1-1.5 months to write it. If you are getting one or two from professors, it is usually better to ask earlier in the summer.

6. Yes, duration does matter! The longer the better - they want to see your are committed to the field.

7. I never had to do anything with AACP....and I've had my pharmcas submitted over a month ago and I'm already accepted somewhere.

Hope it helps!
