Hello everyone!
Ok, I have decided to share with you my current grades on the prerequisite classes in hopes of getting some advice and see if I should forget about Pharmacy School or just keep trying!

English - A/A
Spanish- B/A
Languages- A
Humanities- A/A
Social Science- B/B
Pre-Calculus I and II - B/C
Calculus- D (retaking it next semester)
Chemistry C/C
OChem (Failed, retaking next semester)
Biology- B (need 3 credits more)
Anatomy Physiology- C/ taking part II soon
Psychology- B
Economics- B
Physics (haven't taken it)

So, there it is. Do I have any chance at all? I also have another school option, NOVA but I will have to take new courses like Statistics and an advanced Biology course and I'm already in my third (going on fourth) year at university 🙁
I'm just feeling really discouraged because of the amount of competition, and have been looking other options just in case I don't make it.
Also, my current GPA is 2.66, which I think is wrong (I'll have to talk to my counselor about that) but if I repeat some courses I might get it up a bit.
Thanks for the advice!

I won't say quit going after pharmacy school but if you plan on having any sort of chance then you need to seriously reevaluate your study habits. If you work, then cut the hours or take a smaller load. If you don't understand something, don't wait til test day and ask questions, seek tutoring, build sudy grops. I don't know your personal situation, but I would retake some of those classes and ace the remaining g science courses. Assuming you haven't taken the PCAT, your gonna need a flawless score to show adcoms you understood material you learned. I mean if you are having trouble in organic chem 1, how do you think your going to handle classes in pharmacy school?

Best of luck

Keep pushing forward!!!!!! Your grades are not bad! I'm also in the process of completing the prereqs for pharmacy school. I worked the entire time while taking these courses until this current semester and I don't plan on working until the classes left are complete. I will be done next spring. Pharmacy isn't an easy field but if its your passion give it all you've got!!! stay encouraged!!! if no one else believes in you I do!!!!! Here are my grades
English A/A
Social Science A-/B+
Precalc I C/ II (taking this summer)
Calculus (taking in the fall)
Chem B+/C+
Bio B/(taking II in fall)
Psych A
Sociology B
Physics A-
Speech A-
Organic I II (taking next spring)
Stat (taking in the summer)

You can do it! stay the course

Hi KaStgo, a few things:

First, getting B's and a few C's can mean different things at different universities. For example, an admission committee will look at a C in Calculus from UC Berkeley different than a C from University of Phoenix. If you are attending a competitive research-based university, then you might have a little more room for explanation / forgiveness.

Second, it might be time to brace yourself for some inward searching. If math and science are just not your thing, they will only come back to haunt you again and again. General chemistry and Ochem are the foundation for even getting a chance at understand anything that follows (physical chemistry, calculus-based physics, biostatistics, pharmacokinetics...). If these subjects do not get you jazzed on life, pharmacy may just not be for you, and pharmacy school will be triple the nightmare.

Make sure you're pursuing pharmacy because it's what YOU want to do in the world. Not because your parents tell it's a good job, not because your uncle makes a nice salary at the hospital, not because your friends are doing it too.

Honestly, instead of continuing with retaking classes I would recommend taking some time off and getting a full-time job somewhere in the science industry (many biotech companies hire students as techs or assistants) or in a pharmacy if you're lucky. It will round out your application, but more importantly give you some time to see if this is still something you really want to pursue. 👍
