Hello everyone, just recently joined the forum! 🙂 I just transfered into UT from a CC this fall and well lets just say I made the biggest mistake of taking Physics at UT. If I were to complete the course I would probably end up with a C or a D. Being a new transfer student, UT gives us a chance to use a one-time Q drop up until the day of finals. The thing is that I was taking algebra-based physics and was planning on applying to pharmacy school this year. But plans changed and I decided to go towards a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry which would require Calc-based Physics so my Algebra-based course wouldn't count. However, my dropping the algebra based physics would get me down to 8 hours (part-time) status. Would this hurt me when I start applying for Pharmacy school given the circumstances? I've never dropped a course before and so I have no idea how dropping a course and going to part-time status would affect me.

Would anyone give me some insight about this? Thanks!

One withdrawl won't hurt you in applying. As long as you are keeping a decent amount of units the rest of your semesters (around 15) one part-time semester isn't a huge deal. If you are getting any scholarships make sure you won't lose them if you drop to part-time.

Oh yea one more thing. One school i plan to apply to requires Algebra based physics as a prereq. If this is so in your case, i would ask the school to see if you could supplement.

University of Texas at Austin? If so, what was your GPA transferring in? I am trying to transfer from Tech and I've been told a 3.5 probably wont hack it.

If you are looking at Texas Pharmacy schools, they usually require Trig or Calculus based Physics.

If you think you can salvage the physics class I'd do that so you can maybe use the free drop for another class.

As long as I dont have alot of W's (less than 3), I rather take a W than a C or lower, regardless of the class.

My GPA transferring into UT was a 3.94 if that helps you any. 🙂
