Hello

I am new here !!!

If you're a pre-pharmacy student, what classes are you taking next quarter/semester ?

I am want to take: BiologyII, Organic II, Calculus I, and statistics, but my counselor is telling me that it is a lot ... So I am thinking about switching it to: BIO II, Orgo II and statistics.

alkyne,
It depends on your ability + schedule...Say if you work, then you should not take more than 15 units to ensure good grades. It also depends on your ability, too. For instance, if you are good in math, then CalI should be a breeze for you. That being said, 4 classes as you stated above are not that bad if you don't work. I know a friend of mine. She is taking now Anatomy, OchemI, MicroBio, Statistics and Econ. Amazingly, she gets all A up to this point. Another detail is that she works 15 hours/week...SO yeah...some people really can do that!!!

During my last semester before starting pharmacy school, I took Microbiology + lab, Biochemistry + lab, Organic II + lab, Physics II + lab, Anatomy I + lab, and directed study for 1 credit hour. I ended up with a B in biochem, a B+ in micro, a B in organic and A's in physics & anatomy.

It can be done. I didn't want to sit around for another year before starting pharmacy school. The semester before I also took a heavy load of 19 credit hours and I took classes during both summer sessions.

I think you can easily handle the load. Organic II takes a lot of study time and Calculus requires some reps, but the other classes - stats & bio II are really easy.

Depends more on your social life than anything I think. I took 18 credit hours last semester and got a 3.9, I'm taking 19 hours this semester and am looking at about a 3.7 or higher. I'm taking pharmacology, phys chem, med chem, pharmaceutics, etc etc. Plus I work about 30 hours a week.

The point is...it can be done. It's not easy though. I have a girl...who is a friend...who I see twice as much as I see my fiancee'...and she lives with me! Again, the point, I don't have much of a social life (outside of school). If you're not dating anyone though, it shouldn't be a prob.

I'm taking Bio I and Physics I.

Please clarify this.
You have a fiancee' AND a girlfriend on the side?

no, sorry for the misunderstanding. I shouldn't have said " I have a girl..." that was very poorly worded. I meant to say that I have this friend....who is a girl...who I see more than my own fiancee'. The point I so poorly made was that I see my friends at school and am with them about 10x more than I am with my gf...

Sorry about the confusion...I'm not that type of guy, just to clarify...i love my girl

you can do it man....i took the same kind of courseload and maintained a 3.7 or so....it won't be easy, but hey it will at least emulate life.

go for it....
