Hi all, I am one of the many that have decided to pursue a career in pharmacy. Ill be applying for pre pharm next september at uft, or uw. Just wondering did anyone do their undergrad at Waterloo? How was it? Can anyone compare it to uft? Just want to know where I can achieve a higher gpa since everyone says uft is overrated and much harder, dont want to be putting myself at a disadvantage. Thanks in advance.

There is no "pre-pharm" program at U of T. Are you asking someone who has knowledge of the pre-pharm program at UW (provided one exists) and the Life Sciences program at U of T to provide a comparison of the two?

To clear things up, I meant the pre reqs you have to take at Waterloo or UFT in order to get into pharmacy school. Is it easier to get a higher gpa in Waterloo? Another question I have is, I know Waterloo has a ton of pre reqs to get in, can those be done in 2 years?

No such thing as pre-pharm but i did half my undergrad at UW before getting into UT pharmacy. I did my BSc in Honnor science first to meet all the requirements for both schools. Than i transfered into Honnours Biochem than Biochem/Business. My knowledge to you is that you can have 2 goals. Either start with a very easy degree such as honnour sci/ life sci to get a high mark or hard program such as biochem which gives you low marks. However i donno how i got into pharmacy with a hard bachlors program where averages are usually like 55%. I have a couple 50s myself. The thing though is that if i didnt get into pharmacy with a low mark but i was in Biochem/Business, ill come out of it with a good bachlors degree. BUt if you go into honnour sci and have high marks and still dont get into pharmacy, you are stuck with a bull**** general BSc that most people have. It's your choice. Any questions PM me

I did biochem at UW for 3 years and got into UW Pharmacy and UT pharmacy last year. Biochem is perceived harder than honours science mainly because most people that start in these programs do not really understand what biochemistry or any other specializations in science are about. I know I would have had lower marks in a general science program like honours science because usually those students take more bio courses and electives where for me, chemistry and metabolism were my strengths. Therefore, go for an undergrad that utilizes your strengths.

Also, yes the UW pre-reqs can be done in two years.

hey guys,

i'm entering waterloo this year and my program is Biomedical Science. I'm very interested if UofT's Pharmacy program. I was wondering if I made the right decision with this program, and wondering if I can get in possibly next year. I also have some regrets going to waterloo sometimes, because i would have chosen UofT as my undergrad. I didn't go there in the end because of the difficulty (according to many students), but nevertheless, i do still regret not going to UofT.

How was the application process for you guys? What was your avg if u dont mind me asking, and did anything stand out in ur applications?

Thanks a lot in advance.
