Hello,

I'd like to get some advice;

Im thinking of heading to pharmacy school after I complete my bachelors in chemistry. Either in the US or in Canada (Im Canadian). I know its hard to get into so no need to repeat that part.

Im going into second year now, and I had a rough hard year due to lack of effort and incompetence due to my part. Im now serious and thus ready to work hard. I finished first year with a 4.50 GPA (I think its a 2.21 on the 4 scale). If someway I manage to get all good grades for the next 3 years... Would that make a difference for the schools ? Or is this horrible year of grades going to elimate me directly? I was looking at the canadian pharmacy sites and they seem alot harder to get in then their american counterparts, just a feeling.

I currently have around 200 hours of Nursing/Hospital volunteer work. But volunteering in a pharmacy is rather hard to do.

Advice people ?
Also ideas for EC ?

Thanks so much ! =p

If you improve your studies and show an upward trend in your grades I believe you'll have a fighting chance.

You didn't have to bump this, you know... you could have replied to mcalabr3s's response.

Work harder. Obviously, from these 2 posts of yours, you're not trying hard enough.

Use the search function... There are many people here who have had rough starts to their academic careers. I know plenty who have gone on to become physicians and pharmacists.

Start with "how to improve my chances for pharmacy school".

Obviously, you have no idea what your talking about, darn the internet and its trolls. Thanks for posting out the obvious, your advice is gold to me. "Trying hard enough"; you have no idea. (By the way, looking at your other post it is evident you lack communication skills and throw out your ideas blatantly)

Aboveliquidice --> Ive already seen multiple post of this kind, but I wanted to throw out my specific case out there, like every other single person did...

If you can manage an upward trend from here on out, adcoms will take that into consideration.

EC ideas have been discussed extensively on this site. There are a few threads on it if you take the time to search for them.

You are going to have to try to get experience in a pharmacy.

When would be the best time to apply to the schools through PharmCAS ? I have everything ready except for one recommendation letter, and most of the deadlines of the schools i want to apply are in JAN, is August good? 🙂

ASAP!!! MANY schools are on rolling admissions, which means they evaluate application packets as they come in. The sooner you are seen, the sooner they can decide. Conversely the loner you wait, the more apps they'll see instead of yours, etc.

I had my last thing submitted by this time last year.

It should be easier for you to get into a Canadian pharmacy school and get out... you know, because they just practically give away drugs in Canada, right? /s

Calm down cowboy, to let you know Canadian University have harder grading systems than most average american univeristy, on AVERAGE your 85% is equal to our 75%. Anyways, getting drugs in Canada is like everywhere else, with a prescription.... Except if you count illegal obtention...but your country has alot more of that...

Anyways your post seems trolling to me ? oO

yeah his post was sarcastic as noted by the /s at the end of his sentence.

although u portrayed a pretty broad generalization that Canadian schools grade harder, even if you inflate your 2.21/4.00 to "American" standards, your GPA would be what, a 2.5, 2.6? That's still pretty low. you really need to work hard if you want this.

2.21 is with the inflation, and considering how bad this year was for me il take that any day of the week. Considering im planning (aiming for) 3.2+ ..
Anyways useless talking about this now..its the futur..and just gotta work for it..
