Hey everyone, Im currently a sociology major and have a good gpa(3.66 as of now) and im also finishing up my pre pharmacy reqs. Im just worried that i will not be looked at because of my major. is it alright to be a sociology major? Also, i have heard that majoring in economics is better What would you suggest? Thank you very much.

I don't think it'll be held against you. If anything, majoring in sociology makes you stand out more.

You can major in anything; it doesn't really matter. As the previous poster mentioned, it can help you stand out.

Embrace your differences. You makes you a more unique applicant.😀
They don't care what you major is as long as you did well in your classes and PCAT.

I have a BA in English with a lower GPA than you... and I got in...

You heard that economics is better to major in than sociology? To get into pharmacy school? Those are two pretty different subjects and neither of them are what people normally major in when they know they want to go to pharmacy school. I am guessing you are majoring in sociology because you are interested in it which is good. It doesn't really matter what you major in as long as you have the degree and do good in the pre pharmacy classes and on the PCAT.

But if you wanted classes that were going to be more related to the pharmacy I would major in medical science or biology or chemistry...not economics.
