That's right, you heard correctly. I am what is now known as prepre-med (term dubbed by me). While I know it may be too early for me to be considering studying for and or worrying about qualifications, I am interested to know if anyone here has any useful information for me. I am a junior in highschool, I want to become a psychiatrist and I am pretty motivated. I plan to goto the KU school of Liberal Arts and Sciences to get a degree in psychology and from there apply to med school. Is there anything that I can be doing on the side of regular classes (such as time in hospitals?) that may help me become more prepared and make my college days any easier?

Is it worth it to begin studying for the MCAT?

What I'm asking is if there is anything I can get out of the way or anything that could help prepare me. Thanks for your feedback.

Hey I goto KU also. Just volunteer at a hospital (the ER preferably) so you can see what really goes on. I know a friend of mine hated it and now he doesn't want to be a doctor any more (something about poop on wheelchairs and beds). Other than that man, just study and have fun in college.

Moderator: It was my understanding that this is a graduate forum for medical students, residents, and attendings, not students in high school or college. There are premedical forums for such discussion.
