RAship: My first peer-reviewed article is almost in-press! Yay!!!!

We've made good headway on two other papers and will hopefully get them out soon, and we're starting on a forth. Also, I successfully defend my thesis prospectus and received IRB approval while there

Project at another U (on which I am the PI): My Co-I is super nice, and she's been supporting my ambitions and seems to be putting in good words for me around the department :xf: (I'm applying to different program in the same department). Our project is ready to be sent off to the IRBs (yep, two of them) for approval, and the first half of our potential manuscript is drafted.

Other stuff: I've gotten some awesome child experience, and I am very happy to confirm that I actually like working with kids, as aggravating as they can be at times (I never thought I'd say, "If you put any more tape on your face, I'm going to take it away from you"--said in a completely non-clinical context). I really like the Tests and Assesment class I'm taking online as well, and one of my theses is ready to be written up for a final defense (sadly, no support for my main hypotheses).

Not-so-great stuff: My PI didn't get one of the grants she applied for.

Also, a depressing number of my friends' parents have died this summer. 🙁

I've been busy working on my seniors honors thesis that is also doubling for my research internship project. I have never dreamed of seeing so many dental procecures and look forward to finishing up data collection at the clinic ..too many body fluids for me

I have also been studying for the GRE, editing my personal statement and proposal..Keeping contact with a professor I want to apply to.. I have an abstract due soon that I have yet to do.. in my defense though i just had a break up and have been moving slow for the last week

So summer hasnt been too bad.. extremely productive

I've been doing too much this summer.

I have a full-time clinical internship that ends this week.

Working on the lit reviews for my honors thesis and an independent project connected with my lab. No pubs in the picture for either one of those (I wish)

Taking 2 summer courses.

I've been perfecting my CV and SOP. Narrowing down schools and profs and honing in on my research interests.

I ran a few half marathons. Not as many as I would have liked, but alas I was busy.

Attempting to hang on to my relationship and social life. That's actually been prioritized lately. It feels good to go out to the bars again : )

I was supposed to study for/take the GRE, but that was the first thing to get moved back. I should start that soon...

Ayayayay I'm glad the business is ending soon!

Ugh, mostly crappy if you've read about my internship lol Working on a paper to first-author, I'm awaiting some blood results before I can finish the paper but I'm projecting that I can get it done by the end of September/early October.
