Hello everyone! I have recently decided to switch from pre-med to pre-dent and I'm trying to sort out my course timeline. I'm a music major so I'm planning to be in undergrad for 5 years to finish my degree + prereqs and I'm entering my junior year this fall. I've been trekking though the overwhelming amount (but extremely helpful!) of information on here but I have a couple questions.

My first question is, what is required in terms of math? I've taken pre-calculus and calculus I and I'm currently signed up for "statistics in psychology" for the fall because for pre-med, we needed a year of either all calc or calc+stat. Is it the same for predent? And if so, is this stat class the type of stat they're looking for? If I didn't need this stat class I could potentially take physics instead (if I can get into the class).

As far as science classes, I've taken a year of inorganic chem and I'm about to take my first semester of orgo in the fall. I'm planning to take biology during the summer. Is taking science classes during the summer frowned upon?

Regarding additional biological science classes, how many of these should take? I'm already planning on taking biochem since so many schools require it, and possibly microbiology.

Thanks in advance!

I can only think of UCSF for stats as part of prerequisite. Usually intro statistics would suffice for this purpose

There were many rumors about taking science class in summer, but IMO, that doesn't matter too much.

Biochem, Physio, anatomy, microbiology are generic. Some require histology (it's hard to find in some schools).

Thank you doc toothache! Your guide has been really helpful. Thanks for taking the time to put it all together.

LaughingGas: Thanks for the reply. I ended up dropping the stat class and through researching it doesn't seem like anything past a semester of calculus is needed. I figure if I run into problems later, I can take the math class during my last couple semesters.

Regarding the application timeline, it's normal to start the process without taking the DAT first, correct? Would I be at a big disadvantage if I took the DAT in say, early August while applying for schools? I plan on studying for it during the summer before my last year.

Thanks again for all your help.
