Hey I just had a few questions about pre reqs. I'm a first semester junior right now and I sign up for classes for the spring in a few days. I was wondering how important it is that ALL of my pre reqs are done before I apply (which I'm probably going to do in the summer or early senior year)? Now, I do have the majority done, but there are a few schools that require something that others do not, such as A&P or economics. One school even requires I-chem. (I live in texas by the way, and plan on applying everywhere in state). So, basically, should I get all these classes done now and just have a super hard schedule next semester since I'm trying to fulfill my degree requirements as well, or should I wait until I know which schools I actually land an interview with, and then worry about their specific requirements. Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you have 1-2 classes, you should be fine in getting interviews and such, considering that your GPA is competitive. I don't know exactly, since I wasn't in the same situation... but lots of people apply with a few prereqs left to complete (and schools understand this). I think as long as it's no more than 4-5, you should be good 🙂 You list on PharmCas when you plan on taking your other courses, so as long as you show them that you have it planned out and will have it completed before Spring/Summer (depending on the school's requirement) before you enter pharmacy school, it will be fine.

There's no requirement to have all your prerequisites done when you apply but it obviously benefits you to have as many done by that time since a major part of your application is based off your transcript and GPA. I'd say almost all pharmacy schools share the same universal prerequisites so you should focus on those and tackle each school-specific one if you believe you have a good chance of getting into that school. Only one of the schools I've applied for requires two semesters of physics so I'm waiting for an interview with them before deciding to take it or not next semester.

Most schools do not take you seriously if you don't have Organic Chemistry completed.
