I know there is like a 2-3 year window that the MCAT is good for certain schools but does the same hold true for pre-reqs? It was my understanding that once you've taken chem, physics, etc. there is no expiration from the time you finish to when you can apply. Correct?

I think there is maybe one or two schools that have a prob with older pre-reqs and those are competitive allopathic schools. You can always call the school and ask.

No one has questioned me about mine and some were 10+ yrs ago.

i don't know of any osteopathic schools where they expire. i took gen chem in the '95-'96 school year, and it hasn't been an issue.

Great to know. Thanks everyone.

I contacted several schools and was told that there is no expiration time for prerequisites. The ones that confirmed this were:

KCOM
TOURO
COMP
UNECOM
PCOM

It appears that the other DO schools have the same policy.

I would say this will be of concern if ALL prereqs are from 5-6+ years ago. Otherwise, if a few are, it's cool imho. One of my gen chems was from 8 years ago, but the rest were recent.

Yeh, my situation is that I took Chem I/II and bio I back in 98-99 and all I officially need is Phys I/II, bio II and orgo I/II. I had planned on doingchem and bio over (not because I did poor, but because its been so long) but then thought twice as I am working full time and it would be hard to take chem and physics with labs when I don't really need chem officially. So I dropped chem and I plan on finishing physics I this semester, physics and bio II next semester and orgo I/II next year and I will be complete (and sane). Thanks everyone.
