So I'm looking at Spring schedules at my local community colleges and the science pre-reqs are all 5 credits. I've never seen this before. I've always seen 4 credit bio, chem, ochem, physics...

My guess is it won't matter, but do you know if this is standard some places, and/or will schools accept 5 credit science classes instead of 4?

Non-issue, other than that you might be working a little harder in them. In fact, ace them all and it will drive your GPAs up more than 4 hour classes.

That's what I thought, thanks 🙂

This, considering the way the AACOMAS entering system works.

I've seen some big variance in how schools assign credit hours. My current school awards 3 credit hours for lecture, and 1 for lab. People often blow labs off for this reason. My last school was 2+2 for lab & lecture.

A buddy of mine at a different school has 2 credit hours for lecture, and 3 hours for lab, so it becomes obvious what that school intends to emphasize.

My school is 5 units for every science class with lab except for Physics. Non-issue.
