I have a bs and have taken off a year after getting it due to changes in plans and an injury. I am going back to school to finish up the pre-reqs for pharm school. I have taken some pre-reqs but not all of them. I was planning on just takingthem all over again from scratch since it has been yeras since i have taken some of them and I will need the knowledge for pharm school. Would the pharm schools i will be applying to be more impressed if I go back and get a chem degree? Or if I just go back and do all the prereqs? Do they just look at the prereqs or the whole picture? Because I was thinking it might look better to take biochem, etc... rather than english, etc... and other prereqs over again...thanks in advance for any advice!

I say if you have a BS already, just go back to do the pre-reqs. There is no harm in taking biochem and if you do well in it, it will only help you, just know that you're most likely going to have to repeat it in pharm school. I have a BS in chem and in my opinion, the only way the upper level chem courses (other than biochem) are going to help you is if you intend to go into industry.

I agree you should just do the pre-reqs because you'll just be wasting time and money trying to pursue another degree. It might depend on your GPA though because if it's really low from your bachelors you might need those extra classes to bump it up. Otherwise, you should just concentrate on the pre-reqs you need to take to get in and other ones you need a refresher in. How the school considers you GPA depends on the school. A lot seem to break your GPA down in to parts, like science, humanities, math, and overall.
