Howdy guys,

I'm 1 year away from the DAT, but have completed no science pre-reqs. I am a non-trad just starting with the other courses and am looking for a bit of advice. I've read a lot on the subject, and it seems that a sort of general impression is that Chem 1/2, OChem 1/2, and Bio 1/2 are the essentials for the DAT. Would you agree? I won't have those completed until early next May. I am doing Chem 1/2 and Statistics in summer school and Bio 1/2 and Ochem 1/2 in the Fall/Spring. Is that sufficient, as long as it is greatly augmented with the many DAT specific resources available?

Also, since I have no science under my belt, when should I start accessing these DAT specific materials? Are they complete enough that I can buy them now and gain an understanding from them, or should I wait some?

Thanks for any help!

Chem 1/2, OChem 1/2, and Bio 1/2 are definitely going to help you immensely. Since you're doing all of those within 1 year, I think it'll make studying for the science section of the DAT much easier/faster for you. Maybe buy the Kaplan Blue Book and follow the material in there during your classes. Kinda like killing two birds with one stone. It could save you quite a bit of time, and it could possibly help you achieve even better grades! At least for me, I finally understood some concepts much better from my OChem 2 class after reading about the topic at hand in KBB. Also, if your school has a solid human anatomy & physiology class (or even a human physiology class alone) i'd suggest taking it, as a good amount of the bio section seems to be physio material. Good luck!
