Hi,

I am currently finishing up my undergrad in Canada studying kinesiology. Hoping to go into physio therapy. I noticed many of the US schools require pre-reqs, in my Kin program, I didn't have to take many of the courses required by US schools (Nor do Canadian physio schools require them).
So my question is, do any US physio schools have no/very little pre-reqs? if so, what are they.

Thanks

In the US the degree is in either physical therapy or occupational therapy, as far as grad school is concerned... Each program has its own requirements, but many share the same- mainly a 2-course sequence in each Biology, Chemistry, and Physics and then either a 2-course sequence of Anatomy & Physiology together, or a separate anatomy course and a separate physiology course. Then, beyond that a lot of schools require 2-3 psychology courses, statistics/math courses, etc.

It really depends on the school(s) you are interested in.

With more than 100 schools in the US offering the DPT degree, there's bound to be a few that don't ask for too many prereqs. I know that Elon University in NC does not require too many (compared to others schools I've applied to).

Your best bet is to go to www.ptcas.org and click on the "Program Requirements" button on the front page and go through them, school by school. Or you can look for the schools in specific states if you have a general idea of the area you want to live in.

Please update this thread after you've done your research as it may be useful for someone else down the road.
