Hi everyone,
I recently had an epiphany that caused me to switch over from pre-med to pre-physical therapy. I'm confident that I will enjoy the coursework and profession and am excited to get started. The only problem is that I decided this about 2 days before classes started which means that I had to drop a significant number of my credits and find open/available relevant classes that I could get into.
So far, the classes I need/are relevant for pre-PT that I've taken are Statistics, Intro to Sociology, Fiction Writing, Chemistry I + lab, Chemistry II + lab, Bio lab II, Fundamentals of Group Exercise (I'm a Zumba Fitness instructor), and I'm a psychology and cognitive science double major so I have Statistics in Psychology, Child Psychology, etc. covered.
I have the rest of my semesters mapped out on what I want to take when but I'm especially confused about the Biology pre-reqs. I took AP Biology in high school and scored a 5 on the exam, allowing me to get credit and place out of the Intro Biology classes here in undergrad. I see that many schools want a year of biology and I know it's dependent upon the school on whether they accept AP credit or not (I'm still taking the bio labs though) so I figured I'd take them to broaden my range of what schools I can apply to. However, many say that they want 1 semester of "GENERAL" Bio and 1 semester of an upper-level bio? If I have the credit for the general intro bio classes, would it be advisable to just take 2 semesters (1 year) of upper-level/specialized biology?
Currently I'm enrolled in Intro to Animal Behavior and Microbiology. I've looked at pre-reqs for multiple schools and microbiology seems to be acceptable but would Intro to Animal Behavior satisfy those requirements/would I be able to substitute it for the "general" bio since I already have credit for that?
