Pre-requisites before the MCAT?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
2 semesters of chem, 2 semesters of orgo, 2 semesters of physics, 2 semesters of bio

Just the basics. One year of general bio, a year of G-chem, a year of O-chem, and a year of Physics.

If you have time to kill, I recommend Physiology.

Don't make this more complicated than it needs to be. Understand all the topics in these classes and you'll do well.

You know this is a great question and I think it may have to do also with where you do your undergrad work. I am a junior who plans to take the MCAT in April of 05. My pre-med advisor advised last week that I wait until the August test so I can complete a microbiology course that is required in my major. I lurk on the forum often and I don't recall seeing this anywhere in the past post. What is the thoughts of those who have taken the test?

Thanks in advance!

Basically, you need what everyone else has said (2 orgo, 2 bio, 2 physics...) but basically nothing is set in stone. I took the MCAT this August without the second semester of physics and managed to score in the double digits for the physics section. And as far as taking additional biology classes (such as microbio) first - taking more classes first won't hurt, but you can do ok without them.
