Generally, who has more of a say of what you do? For example, if the director at your school states that you're supposed to be at your IPPE site for 8 1/2 hours everyday, while your preceptor just tells you to come in at 10AM and go home at 2PM. Who to obey?

Or if the DPE says you gotta dress up shirt+tie with the white coat, and the preceptor says just wear a polo, khakis and a white coat?

I remember back a year or so, my boss was a preceptor for LIU. I remember him always telling the intern to go home, don't worry about the other 3 hours.

Also, do the practice experience directors ever go around to check up on the interns and preceptors?

Do what the preceptor says. If its found out that the rules were broken, they will get an email from the school...you were just obeying your instructor. They really can't make them keep you that long...sites are hard to come by nowadays.
