Over the last few weeks I keep seeing several posts involving discussions of the Predatory Private Practice and there are MANY other posts that go much further back as well.
It seems to me it might be a good idea to have sticky thread on this forum warning potential candidates of these groups. If a group does indeed have a habit of hiring new grads, give a one or two year partnership track and then firing them just before they make partner, I would think this would be valuable information.
As one poster has pointed out, it should not be based on urban legend but rather direct experience. Gaspassers Inc. in Atlanta GA just fired me one week before my one year date, just thought you all should know. Or, My best friend was just fired by Gaspassers Inc, ect .
It has also been pointed out there are some very large groups out there that dont disclose certain information like two tier partnerships until you make partner after one or two years only to find out youre not an equal at all. Perhaps when someone left this kind of group they might be willing to anonymously post that information here, as well as other non-disclosed info that could later be disapointing.
This could help people who were not even familiar with the SDN. If someone were considering joining a group and did Google search, if the name of the group was in an SDN post it would come up, and the candidate could read thread and be warned. Most of all a report like this could help discourage these groups from this kind of practice. After all, if a group were to become notorious for this type of thing they would have a tough time getting anyone to join them.
While staring an specific web site, like Scutwork.com, could be in the future, perhaps this will do for the time being. I will leave it up to the SDN population at large and mods to decied if this is a good idea and should be made a sticky thread.
