Predents.com Question

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
depends what you mean. You can look at all the applicants to a specific school that are registered on predents by clicking on that school in the pull down menu on the home page. If you want to see all the applicants period, then no. you can't. 😛

When you go to a specific school, you just can see the applicants that were either interviewed, accepted, waitlisted, attending, or rejected. However, these are only some of the applicants to that school and not ALL of them. I want to see if there is a way to see ALL the applicants to a specific school....

You can always get the "Official Guide to dental schools". It's expensive though.

that still wont give you statistics of individuals like predents.com, itll just give you averages... or am i wrong?

You're right. Consider each dental average 2,000+ applicants per year, giving out statistics of each and every individual would just be close to impossible.

Most schools will have a copy somewhere (like at the career center, or with the pre-health advisor). I borrowed the one we had and photocopied only the pages I needed.

Predents.com is the best you are going to get, and a lot better than 4 years ago when there was no predents.com.

by the way, dont get too intimidated by the scores of individuals on predents.com. Generally, the people that are willing to post their stats are people with above average stats

A lot of them are braggers:barf:

My question is with regard to those who HAVE a predents.com profile.

For example, predents says that 100 ppl have applied to a specific school. However, under the "interviewed, accepted, waitlisted, rejected" section I can only view the profile of 40 of these applicants. Is there any way to view the profile of remaining 60 applicants.

I do know that in reality the school has over 1000 applicants.

I hope it clears things a bit.

Try giving Pdizzle (spelling?) a PM. He's the creator of the site.

I had actually recommended this to Pdizzle at the beginning of the 08 cycle on a different thread and he didn’t seem too keen on it. There would be a lot of extra stuff on the page and would probably be a bit of work to redesign page to show that. I agree that it would be useful info.

At the end of each cycle, every predent who said they applied to a specific school should be shown on that page because they were either accepted, or rejected. This doesn’t always happen as some stop updating after they get into their school of choice.

I wanted to see this info when interviews were first being handed out in the cycle, and seeing where I stood while waiting for one of my own. With the current format, I was able to compare my stats with those who got an interview, but not those who were still waiting for one as well.

I agree, those with higher stats shouldn't be allowed to post them bc they would hurt the ego of those who have lower stats. If anything it reminds me I need to be at the top of my game at my interviews.

Ummm... after checking out you predents profile, I'd say you are right at the top stats wise. Regardless, you're correct that it's motivation to be at the top of ones game when it comes to the application, secondaries, and interviews.

Love that avatar! Going to Michigan?

Well... I have a whole thread dedicated to that decision. After lots of research, the only advantage for me heading out to Ann Arbor would be to save money. One more week before things are official.

How about you? You have quite a good selection of schools.

I think I remember that thread. Go where you are going to save the most money. You won't regret saving 100k. Was that the thread where the guy was worried about not having connections?

Tell me about it...
jigalo,
Knowing that english is like your eighth language makes me feel horrible that all I got was a 19. You smoked it!

That was the one. The connections thing was only one tangent during the course of the discussion. Now that I have talked to many current and former students at both programs outside of SDN, the only single advantage of Michigan in my case would be money, and I’m not so convinced.

Following the money logic, and to keep on topic for the thread (predents.com), are you heading to Buffalo (probably the cheapest on your predents profile)?

I don't ascribe to the connections belief in choosing a dental school. But what do I know (Literally little but we like to pretend right)
I have withdrawn my app from pretty much every place except Buffalo, CO and ASDOH. I'll let the wife decide since CO with WICHE is only a 20k diff from Buff. Still waiting to see what ASDOH does. I doubt that I will be accepted, but i am still hoping...
