Predents.com: Update

OK, I finally put in some other stats that many people have been wanting. I put in:

Sex and ethnicity.

Once a lot of you guys and gals have updated that info I will start making some cool pie charts to get an even better idea of what’s going on. So, get on over to predents.com and update that stuff,...unless you morally object. 🙂

One note: Please do not get on my a$$ about the list of possible ethnic groups. I know it isn’t all inclusive but if I went by the 2000 Census Bureau, there would be a drop down list 2 miles long!! Plus, I want to make pie charts and don't want 58 slices in them. I can’t think of that many different colors!!

Next updates will include the "Top 5" lists which will list the top 5 schools in applicants, interviews, acceptance, rejection, etc, according to Predents.com data. The other project will be the ability to search applicants instead of schools. This is why it's important to fill out your record well to make this work.

Age is actually already in. The Date of Birth section can be entered. I have yet to display it in age (years) format. Thats high on my list.

That's what I was looking for so we could see applicants age and class average age, etc.

I have an idea for predents.com: right now the site shows where and when people are interviewing. Is it possible to make a page of all people interviewing at X dental school on Y day?

I'm thinking it'll be a nice to know who you're interviewing with that day, maybe even get together the day/night before to make the next day less stressful. What do you guys think? Would this be helpful? I haven't had an interview myself yet, so I'm not sure.

That's a good idea..I'm changing it now before too many people put in their data.

If you have entered your ethnic group, check to see if it still accurate!!!

I've already asked him to make it more like mdapplicants.com (which is also affiliated with SDN). He prefers to leave messaging to SDN, assuming users keep the same screennames.

This is correct at the moment.

But nothing is written in stone. If anything, I'd like to put more features where applicants can add more information about their application experience and display it. I prefer a "one way street" of info at the moment.

You never know, I was thinking the other day of a mini forums like bulletin board thingie for each school. People could post things and ask general questions and get responses, much like a forum but w/out all the bells and whistles. This will probably be the closest thing to directly communicatiing with a fellow predent at predents.com in the forseeable future. If you think you will like that, make some noise!! I cave in to peer presure!!!!!
