predict DAT based on SAT

You probably can not predict a DAT score however it would be a barometer to see how well a person handles the pressures and stresses of a test like that. Someone that id well on the SAT probably is a beter test taker than someone who did not.

I dont necessarily agree with that. The Dat and the Sat are totally different exams. One can be good in math and english only therefiore do well on the SAT but get destroyed when it comes to the DAT.

Yes but the SAT is apressurized timed test. It tests how well you take a test. The math and vocab on the SAT are pretty easy and with no pressure and unlimited time people would do much better. It isnt perfect but it usually will show how well a person takes a standardized timed pressured test.

The math is about the same level on both, but I don't think the verbal would correlate to RC as well. I did well on SAT math and DAT; also poorly in SAT verbal and well in DAT RC.

For me,
780 Math SAT : 25 QR DAT
640 Verbal SAT : 22 RC DAT

i see there being absolutly NO way to use the SAT as a predictive sign of how well someone might do on the DAT....there are just wayy too many variables that come into play. for one, i didn't give a *#^&* what i made on the SAT and i actually took it the first time after partying the night before. (i took it again and did about the same as the first time, BUT my combined 2 best subjects = 1300+ 😀)

anyway, basically what i'm getting at is that i think that me taking the DAT means a heck of a lot more to me than did the SAT. i know for me, i wasn't too concerned about what my score was as i was already "accepted" to my school as long as i made a 800 or better (gotta love the NCAA clearing house). now, if dental schools started offering full athletic scholarships, my attitude might change...hahaha.

I'm not so sure:
770 verbal -> 26 RC DAT

but on the other hand, I wouldn't call 640 verbal doing "poorly" 🙂

There might be something to it... but it's a very loose correlation at best.

If the SAT turns out to be an excellent predictor of the DAT, it would obviate the need to take the latter. Think of the money ds applicants and ADA could save.

710 verbal 23 RC
790 math 21 QR

I forget how much reading comp was on the SAT. All I can remember is those stupid analogies. And yes, the SAT is not a good predictor of college success and Im a prime example, but it just measures potential anyways. QR on the DAT is really time pressured (moreso than the SAT). I thought people were just not too strong in math who werent finishign on time. Achievers 3 tests were super easy in comparison and I was finishing with 6-11 minutes spare time. NOT SO on the real deal 🙂 Was forced to do the last 4 problems in 30 seconds. Other than that I believe the SAT math and DAT math probably correlate pretty well. DAT of course has trig and is nearly all word problems but a person who does well on the SAT will likely have success in the QR section and vice versa.
