Anybody see any change in difficulty. I've taken 15 and 16. I thought they were very similar exams, however, the first 2 sections in 16 I thought were the toughest (probably was just chance). I scored the exact same on both, so if I do about the same on 17 I'd be surprised if these don't reflect my score on the real test but who knows.
Ok so just took 17. So I got the same Raw score on 16 and 17 (as in got the same number of questions wrong) but got 6 points lower. Interesting. 17 was heavy on behavioral and repro, probably my worst two and I would assume I missed some questions that a lot of people get correct, and that pulled down my score. Just goes to show you that the curve can be a little weird and not to psych yourself out during the test. I felt best about 17 and it was my lowest, although not by much.I took 16 and 17, and although I got 6 Qs more right on 17 my three digit score did not change. I am assuming this happened based off of the way they grade with averages and SD. I thought 16 was harder as well (more stat Qs which are my downfall) and felt pressed for time on the first half. 17 I had about 8mins left over in each section to just stare at some Qs debating whether to change my answer. 17 had more ethic Qs (maybe 5?) .. Overall I liked 17 way better but was disappointed my score didn't change.
Should've read this before my last comment. More evidence that curve is pretty steep for 17, by about 5-6.Took NBME17 4 days before the real thing and it under predicted by 6. Pre-44q blocks if that makes a difference. Buddy from class took it 6 days before the real thing and it under predicted by 7 for him. n=2

Ya I thought about that after I re-read your message above. But every post I've read says an under estimate. If anything, it is a very good sign for you I would think.N=1 but no way is NBME 17 over predictive for me. I doubt I'll get a 280 on the real deal.
I haven't gotten my score but felt NBME 17 was WAY easier than the real deal. I would be shocked if my real score was the same. Maybe that's just standard test day paranoia showing though.
I am worried about this too. I just took NBME17 and it was waaay by far my highest. I felt that it was easier, though and may have played to my strengths (ex. ethics). I took NBME16 about 6 prior and got a 234 but then took NBME17 and got a 251 (missed 17 less questions than NBME16, though). Hoping it is closer to my real score and that I'm finally learning stuff and peaking at the right time.. but who knows 🙁 real deal in like 5 days.
Holy crap, how many did you miss? Like 4 questions?N=1 but no way is NBME 17 over predictive for me. I doubt I'll get a 280 on the real deal.
I mean to be honest, I would be surprised if the real deal felt easier than any practice test (except maybe uWORLD, my nbme has been higher than my uWORLD percentage). You know they are gonna save some stuff for the real test. Even though 17 was my lowest score, I got the same number of questions wrong that I got on 16, which I scored 6 points higher, so I don't get it. I still have to go back and look at which ones I missed but I think it's some of the behavioral science stuff. If I had to choose one section to cram before the real test, that'd be it. We'll see.I haven't gotten my score but felt NBME 17 was WAY easier than the real deal. I would be shocked if my real score was the same. Maybe that's just standard test day paranoia showing though.
Thanks for saying this. Reading this kind of stuff definitely helps. I'm usually not the most confident person so its nice to hear things like this!If it makes you feel any better I thought the real thing was significantly harder than nbme17 as well and scored 6 better.
I had a decent jump from 16 to 17 as well but not as large as yours (232 --> 241). I took nbme16 about 11 days out and nbme17 4 days out. I was convinced that nbme17 was an outlier for me and my real score was going to be ~230 +/- 5. I was pretty stoked when my report came back with a 247. I know all of this is anecdotal but it helped my confidence reading things like this when I was in your shoes. Good luck man
