I'm starting to study for the DAT. I know of the major companies, but am wondering if there is a general board consensus of which companies are the best for which sections?

This post helps me a lot and i'm doing similar to this.

I think watching Chad's video of G chem and Ochem first then moving on the KBB or other materials is really good. Chad's video is great for a start and i think it pretty much covers everything for Gchem!
For ochem, I heard organic chemistry as a second language book is awesome so i bought it and its on its way!
for bio, read KBB first and then Cliffs Ap bio!

If you read posts about DAT breakdowns of other people, they post their study methods, materials, how they studied and etc. and those are really helpful!

Yeah that is a big help.

-Kaplan blue book (KBB) (2009-2010 version)
-Cliff’s AP biology (3rd edition from 2007)
-DAT destroyer (2010 version)
-MATH destroyer (2010 version ~ I believe it has 11 tests)
-Crack DAT PAT software (the 10 test version)
-Chads chemistry and math videos (Optional)
Although I won't be following the given guide whatsoever, this seems like a quality lineup.

A few more questions:
How old can study materials be before they are obsolete?
Are there any specific companies/books that are not recommended?
