Preferred Minimum Scores

I am planning on applying to Case Western, but unfortunately they list their preferred minimum scores as 600 for both the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE. While my quantitative is far above this level, my 550 verbal is also far below it. They also request a combined 1200, which I am more than 100 points above.

Does anyone have any experience with Case Western and these minimums? I guess what I am wondering is is it even worth applying or does "preferred minimum" mean "you our out of luck with a 550?" Thanks!

Well it doesn't say that a 600 in each section is REQUIRED for admission, so maybe you are okay. Can you e-mail someone there to ask, maybe like an administrative assistant? There's no sense in you applying to a school for which you absolutely won't qualify, so getting definite information here could be helpful.
