During pregnancy deep vein thrombosis usually occurs in the left iliofemoral vein. But why?? I thought that since the uterus is slightly on the right side of the body, compression of the right iliac vein is more likely. My professor said that uterus dextrorotation causes the left leg thrombosis but i dont understand the mechanism. Please help me!

google image may thurner syndrome--> theres a good picture of the mechanism but the idea you have is right. Its actually the right iliac artery which has increased pressure from the uterus but due to anatomy the right iliac artery crosses the left iliac vein and compresses it decreasing blood flow through the vein
