My husband and I are thinking about having kids soon. I am currently in my third year. I was just wondering if anyone knew what impact being pregnant during residency interviews would have on my chances. I feel like it might be a disadvantage for me. Does anyone know what effect, if any, this would have on my chances? I know no one is supposed to hold this against me, but I feel like it might somehow make me look less dedicated to my career. I am also worried about being able to travel to an from interviews if I'm late in my pregnancy. Has anone heard any stories about this?

i've heard one story of a very qualified, but very pregnant female not matching into a radiology residency. just make sure you're not showing during dec/jan of next year.

People have different stories/opinions. Lots of women have done it and still matched where they wanted to. That doesn't mean there couldn't be a residency program that will discriminate. But do you want to be in a program that won't be family-friendly if kids are a priority to you? Also, some specialties tend to be more accepting than others.
www.mommd.com has a LOT of discussion about this. Go to discussion forums under "Community," then to Family and Parenting. There are also threads on this site with similar discussion.
Good luck with your decision-making!

I've heard of very qualified, not pregnant, not abnormal peole not matching radiology. It's a dog eat dog field. It happens.
Unless they gave her a letter saying "we didn't rank you because you are pregnant" (which is illegal), that is unlikely to be the reason.
