Just curious - what year did you see the most pregnancies? I would assume P4, but a friend of mine said she saw a lot in P1. I'm curious to know how this is possible to work out.. and how in the world do they do it? What if you are due to give birth during exams? How do the schools work with you on that?

pregnancy is pretty rare in any year, for obvious reasons. More than half way through my 3rd year now, only 1-2 in all that time. The one girl I know well enough lucked out in that she didn't deliver during a test week. She was out for couple of days and was back in class. That's pretty much what you need to survive here at OSU -- you miss class for a week, you pretty much flunked the next test, maybe the quarter which would pretty much means you drop out for a year.

We had 1 female student with TWO pregnancies during pharmacy school. The first when she was a P2, and then another as a P4. Other than that, most pharmacy school pregnancies were male students' wives, so they just missed a few days around the delivery. No big deal.

Three of my students have been pregnant in the last couple of years. All were P4. Two of them were screwed by their school and lost six months of income. One was fine as the school worked with her to make sure she could complete her requirements on time.

It really depends on how your school treats you.

there are always pregnant girls in my class. There were 8 or so when we started 4th year.

We have four pregnancies in our P2 year. I think it seems to be good timing if you have a significant other at home to help out. Of course that's easy for me to say, NOT having any children on the way.

after talking with one who had 2 children during pharmacy school (2nd and the beginningof 4th year) there is no perfect time to do it. But if you're going to have children anyway, do it.

So far, no pregnancies for my class. Just one male student's wife delivered the baby 2 months into the program, but that was it.

That's what's good about Touro NY I guess, we use this online Blackboard system, so basically if you're missing classes, you can still keep track of what's going on from home, granted that you have an internet connection.

Although, there are a few professors who upload only partial notes and outlines of their lectures onto the blackboard system to discourage absence from class. Then again, you can just shoot an e-mail to a friend and have them send you their copy of the notes.

We got the equivalent. The problem is sometimes the recording fails (e.g the old professors don't know how to work the computer right, or the IT folks screwed up the file). There is the problem with them using pointers in class and say "this", "that" which don't show up on any recordings. And like you, some professors don't do recordings because they want class attendance. Of course, when it's action time, girls usually aren't in any mood to be listening to recorded lecture anyway. :meanie:

OSU is on a quarter system, which means professors love to "dump" a semester worth of info in 10 weeks, tests almost every week. Getting C- equal to fail in a non-elective class, equal to you fail the quarter. Since these classes comes only once a year, you basically drop out for a year.
