If I am interested in ophthalmology and I have a mild strabismus when I look with one eye. I see fine with glasses, even 3D, I have a -4 right eye and -5 left eye. I'm in my mid 20s, I don't know if a Sx would help, or if I want to risk even more problems. Furthermore, would that be a problem if I wanted to match in ophthalmology or even to perform the job?

Thanks a lot

One of the most famous pediatric ophthalmic surgeons has strabismus with an obvious deviation. Another fellow I worked with had trouble with depth due to amblyopia, but he is also a very good surgeon.

-4 D and -5 D has no bearing in your surgical skills. You could be -10 or -15 D and still be a surgeon, unless myopic degeneration kicks in.

If you see fine with glasses, don't worry about.
