My question is how different does this have to be from my actual EM personal statement. What sort of stuff should be included in this thing?

Thanks...

ectopic: are you in chicago? if so, you should apply to my ty program, swedish. they took 4 out of 8 er guys. i think they like us!

Different sort of question, but I guess related:

Has anyone run into problems with doing prelim or transition years at completely different hospital systems from their residency programs? Are there any crazy funding/salary issues involved? Is it any easier to do your intern year at the hospital you plan to do your residency? Does this question make any sense?

I didn't change my personal statement for the TY programs. Writing one personal statement was bad enough as far as I'm concerned, and I didn't see any reason to pretend to be interested in anything other than EM.
