I'm glad you guys are discussing this issue. Some advice please? So for whatever reason, I've noticed that the deadline for many prelim and transitional year programs is in Dec. and so forth, so I thought that I had plenty of time to apply. I applied to Transitional year programs at the end of Oct. and to prelims pretty much just yesterday. Am I screwed? Or do I still have a chance of getting a prelim interview? Also, how hard is it to get a prelim or a transitional year spot? I applied to transitional year program's over a week ago and I h aven't heard anything! I'm a pretty descent applicant, good grades, master's, working on research, etc., so I would figure someone would want to interview me, but still nothing!!
Should I start freaking out!? Did I entirely screw up my chances at residency?!
You do realize that a week is a pretty nominal amount of time in this kind of process. There will frequently be some delay between when you submit your app, the programs download it, and they decide to invite you in.
