I know this has been discussed in the past but just wanted to hear from anybody...via reply to this post or PM if need be how to handle my situation. Did not match anesthesia this last season, doing a surgery prelim year at a pretty big name hospital that seems to be pretty good at putting people into gas at other locations (at least 1-2 each year). Have pretty good board scores but am a carib img alas. Have heard I should be applying to ERAS as well as talking to individual programs...will be doing both obviously as I have no choice but just wanted to know how feasible this is. Also, what is the best way to go about this, like when and who should I call etc?

Thanks for helping me out in advance

PS - dont mind the nickname, my husband applied for rads and got it 🙂

Damn! I clicked on this thread for the sole purpose of commenting on your screen name.

Now that I'm here, is your husband an IMG, too? Cause that's way impressive, Caribbean to Rads.

If your surgery department knows that you're a prelim looking for a gas spot... and likes you... you might have a decent chance with the gas department. It's much easier to get a good spot if you know some folks.
