I am little confused about the options one has after doing a Prelim PGY1 Surgery year as an IMG.
From what I understand if you need a visa you need to apply to Prelim/Categ PGY2 positions in order to be approved and fulfill the ECFMG requirement of advancing in your training.
However if you are a citizen/dont need visa then you can still apply to Categ PGY1 since you are not bound to the ECFMG.
Does this make sense?
