Prelim Vs Transitional Year

Depends on what you're looking for. You can find some very cush transitional year programs where you do just a month of night float and no call, but may also not spend a lot of time "getting your hands dirty" either. If you can set it up to do electives/outpt months you'd never do in EM, maybe worthwhile and definately a nice lifestyle. One could argue you have your whole 3 years to see medicine and ICU pts and do procedures...others would say you should get experience with those things before your 2,3,4. Surg transitional year...know what you're in for, you gotta want to do it or it'd be a long year.
