No a premed program is not the same as a BS/MD.. If it were a BS/MD it would say it. The premed program usually consists of 90 semester credits which can be completed in no more than 1.5-2yrs, however SGU's program looks slightly different. It states that it's a 3-year program! If its like that then you might as well complete the BS/MD program they offer! You'll be there for about 5 yrs as I understand it, because the last 2 years of medical school (rotations) can be completed in the United States..... However I could be wrong......😉
That's what I thought... but there's no application available to the BS/MD program. All the information that my friend has says that the BS degree is offered to qualified premedical students after their first year of medical school. Weird. Gotta love college admissions. 😍
Thats weird.. I would take advantage of that AFTER I would have done some research.... However, whats the point of gaining a BS degree thats not valid in the US.. The only reason the MD is valid is because the schools been validated and because when you take the USMLE you will show proficiency if you pass.. Thus obtaining a valid MD degree.. However the credits you would gain from a BS over there, wouldn't be valid here.. Unless they offer it because there is at least one state that requires you to HAVE a Bachelors even if you've passed all the steps you wouldn't be able to gain licensure in any state having a similar requirement unless you've obtained a Bac. So maybe that BS would fulfill that requirement...
