Eh, true. I've been called a nerd more than once. I sort of take it as a compliment 🙂 Besides, I'd rather have what I have than be totally clueless about what to do after undergrad

Who cares if you are a nerd? As long as you are a good communicator, stand up for yourself, are able to defend yourself, able to handle criticism, dress professionally (have a professional show you how to dress correctly....not needed for a student though), have goals, and have a good sense of humor you will be liked.

My room-mate and my best friend are both engineers, and both of them swear that pre-meds are way more intense than engineers. So, not so much nerdy as very, very focused on medical school... Both of them couldn't believe that I spent five months studying for one test (the MCAT).

Successful pre-meds are pretty nerdy. Some pre-meds are pretty chill. They usually are not neurotic enough to do well to get in tho.

I think you can get into med school and not be neurotic. I certainly did!

I'd say at least 1/4 of my classmates were engineering majors. Some are even doing a combined MD/MS in BME. Plus we all have significant research experience before and during med school. What do you think of THAT nerdiness factor? 😉
