I commute, but its only about 7 minutes each way.

P.S.- You may not want to start your threads with "Ight" if you want to be taken seriously

Did both.

Housing on/right by campus is expensive, commuting saves me money.

Simple as that.👍

I commute 15-20 minutes. I'll probably rent an apartment right across the street from campus next year though.

Commuting is cheaper, and it's nice having your parents to do stuff for you.

It depends where I can find housing. At one time, I was living at two places at once - a friend's apartment (I had my own room there and everything, hahaha) and a dorm. For a time, I commuted from my parents' place (ask about it - it's a terrible story), and now I'm living in my school's residence halls as a staff member.

Commute

~5 mins away, why waste my parents money? Or my own for that matter.. 😛

first year of undergrad my parents made me live in the dorm. after that i lived off campus (one place was like half an hour in bad traffic, despite the fact it was around 1 mile away from campus!), and was able to spring for a more expensive place across the street from school in my last year there.

Ah, the joy of living off your parents' money. I remember those days fondly.

Enjoy it while you can.

Last semester I commuted 1.5 hours each way 👎.

Next semester I'll be at a different school so it'll only be about a 10-15 min commute each way 👍. Man I love mooching off my parents.

Dorm for first two years. Move into the upper class dorms if you have the option, they are SO much better.

I have a townhouse with me and two buddies starting in August. It's across the street from campus though, so that could be either or. 😀

Commute 2 hours each way. I have never lived in the dorms, but at my school you can't live in them if you are older than 21 because of space issues anyway. I think they tore down a dorm to rebuild it or something, who knows 🙂 My commute to work is only 5 minutes though 🙂

Commute about five/ten minutes depending on how on schedule the trolley is.

You guys are lucky to be so close to campus. Makes life easier. My commute is ~45 minutes, guess that's not too bad.

Trust me, I am. It's nice but I also have a job- I have to pay for things like gas for my car, food that I eat outside, stuff like that. But parents are paying for bigger things 😉

😱

You guys are lucky, I lived 2500 miles away from my undergrad. Needless to say, I didn't commute.

I commute 1.25 hours each way 4 days a week. It's rough. I'm in Minnesota also which means when snow hits - It'll probably take two hours each way.

I've remedied this by recording notes and playing it on a loop while driving.

so... did you live on campus or off? just because you didn't commute from what you consider home doesn't mean you didn't commute.

I lived on campus my first two years and in an apt the year after. I ended up commuting my last year because I had a really reduced courseload in the fall due to studying for the MCAT ..

Living near campus was fine, much more convenient, but having grown up in suburbia, I never fully adjusted to the very urban settings that my ugrad school was in. Flip side, commuting was a little bit of a hassle since I had to be an hr early for everything, but since I was close to BART (bart.gov), it was actually pretty convenient in terms of not having to drive

Last year I lived in a dorm, but next year I'll live in a living group (kinda like a sorority, but minus the bs) that's on-campus.

commute 1.5 hour each way by train. It gets really annoying in summer because its damn hot and train A/Cs doesn't work very well.

Commute 20 min. without traffic on the highway. Finding a parking spot after 9 am is a pain in the butt, but at least I save around 10k from dorm and meals.

Yup...worst experience of my life.

I can relate. Two years ago, I made the mistake of staying with my parents over the summer while taking classes in the morning and afternoon. Please note: they live on a farm and I have no car.

Yeah, I had to wake up at four or earlier every morning to get to my 7 a.m. class on time. At least I know I can do it, in case I'm ever asked to again. 😎

Lived in a freshman dorm my first year, I now live at a fire dept (built in dorms for college students) in exchange for a given number of weekly volunteer hours. I also live within a short (30 minute) drive of my school, so commuting is always an option as well when I take a break from the firehouse.

I did both only because I started out at a university 2.5 hours away so I lived in a dorm. Now that I live at home I commute only because school is about 10-12 minutes away. When I'm in medical school I will probably live in a local apartment and commute.
